  • Nishkam Medical Centre

    The medical Centre started in 1993 at Tilak Vihar, New Delhi, where 700 sisters who became widows in different areas of Delhi in carnage 1984., is being modernized where morning and evening O.P.D. service, is being provided. Special emphasis in the Polyclinic is on Dental and Cataract surgeries. The Laboratory and imaging services have been outsourced to a state-of-the-art laboratory and imaging centre of West Delhi though the services continue to remain charitable.

    A group medi-claim insurance scheme to cover the needy widows, senior citizens and orphan children is to be launched soon to provide cashless hospitalization services of to these people. Similarly, the donors of Nishkam Sikh Welfare Council (Regd.) will also be covered later under this scheme. Nishkam will pay the premium for medi-claim insurance of needy widows, senior citizens and orphans whereas the donors will pay their own insurance premium. A drug de-addiction center is proposed to be set up in rented premises in Tilak Vihar, New Delhi. An Ambulance Service for the patients and hearse van service is also proposed to be added soon.

    Stitching-cum-Training Centre
    The Centre was started in 1985 and since then it has continued to provide employment to widows/needy ladies/their daughters. The products of the Centre are sold through Gurdwara stalls.  A stitching and embroidery Training Centre has also been added for young girls.

    Tuition Centre

    About 400 children from I to class XII attend special tuition classes by paying a very nominal tuition fee at Nishkam Bhawan. These classes have continued since 1985 The morning classes are held form 8:30AM to 11:30 AM and evening classes form 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Value based education is also being provided to these children.

    Music classes were started. In the Music classes, while learning Kirtan, the children also do Diploma/Graduation course in Music from Pryag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad, which enables them to become music teachers.

    Adult Education Program

    Under this program efforts are made to enable school drop out children to pass Xth /XIIth class examination under the Open School Scheme. This also helps widows to get promotion to clerical grades.


    English Speaking Classes

    Nishkam felt the necessity of helping children to speak English fluently, as most of them were studying in Government schools and were unable to put up a good show in the interviews. Therefore, with the help of trained teachers, classes for personality development are being run in the morning /evening at Nishkam Bhawan, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi. On an average, about 50 children attend these classes throughout the year and the same are becoming more popular.


    Library

    A well-equipped library is running at Nishkam Bhawan, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi to assist the students in their studies. A large number of books on computer, children, besides text books and books on Sikh religion and history are available in the library


    Charitable Type and Shorthand Centre
    The Centre started in April, 1988 and equipped with English, Hindi & Punjabi typewriters, aims at training children in typing & English shorthand. Typing is taught on computers as well. The Centre is helpful to our students of Adult Education Program also as typing and shorthand are subjects in the Open School Scheme. Further, Centre is helpful to the students learning computers especially with the Punjabi and Hindi keyboard

    Computer Centre

    The Centre started in June, 1992 is equipped with latest computers and aims at providing training to children in different courses. Fee concession is offered to needy children so that they are able to stand on their own feet.

     Donations to this project eligible for 100% exemption for donors in India.

    * Registered with Government of India for receiving donations in kind under the Indo-US/UK/Swiss/German/Swedish Agreements.
    * Registered under Section 12A(a) of Income Tax Act, 1961. Donations eligible for exemption under section 80-G in India.
