PROJECTS RUNNING AT NISHKAM BHAWAN, TILAK VIHAR, NEW DELHI
The medical Centre started in 1993 at Tilak Vihar, New Delhi, where 700 sisters who became widows in different areas of Delhi in carnage 1984., is being modernized where morning and evening O.P.D. service, is being provided. Special emphasis in the Polyclinic is on Dental and Cataract surgeries. The Laboratory and imaging services have been outsourced to a state-of-the-art laboratory and imaging centre of West Delhi though the services continue to remain charitable.
About 400 children from I to class XII attend special tuition classes by paying a very nominal tuition fee at Nishkam Bhawan. These classes have continued since 1985 The morning classes are held form 8:30AM to 11:30 AM and evening classes form 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM. Value based education is also being provided to these children. Under this program efforts are made to enable school drop out children to pass Xth /XIIth class examination under the Open School Scheme. This also helps widows to get promotion to clerical grades. Nishkam felt the necessity of helping children to speak English fluently, as most of them were studying in Government schools and were unable to put up a good show in the interviews. Therefore, with the help of trained teachers, classes for personality development are being run in the morning /evening at Nishkam Bhawan, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi. On an average, about 50 children attend these classes throughout the year and the same are becoming more popular. A well-equipped library is running at Nishkam Bhawan, Tilak Vihar, New Delhi to assist the students in their studies. A large number of books on computer, children, besides text books and books on Sikh religion and history are available in the library
The Centre started in June, 1992 is equipped with latest computers and aims at providing training to children in different courses. Fee concession is offered to needy children so that they are able to stand on their own feet. |
